(5α)-17β-hydroxy-androstan-3-one
\n Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a steroid hormone synthesized from testosterone (Item No. 15645) by 5α-reductase in the prostate, testes, hair follicles, and adrenal glands.{25853} It has 2-3-fold greater androgen receptor affinity than testosterone and has 10-fold higher potency of inducing androgen receptor signaling.{25854} DHT plays an important role in the formation of the male external genitalia during embryogenesis and acts as the primary androgen in the prostate and in hair follicles in adulthood.{25854}
