18O Water
18O Water is used in a cyclotron to generate 18F, which is a radioactive isotope of Fluorine. The 18F is then used in the production of fludeoxyglucose, which becomes the metabolic tracer used in PET scans. 18F has a half life of approximately 110 minutes.
