Cryptosporidium (CRYPTS)

"... with slides, suspensions, filters, and Giardia samples"

Cryptosporidium and Giardia are parasites found in water that can cause illness in humans - as demonstrated by the regular cryptosporidium outbreaks that threaten public health throughout the world. Potable or recreational waters should be treated to remove cryptosporidium: therefore  samples are regularly tested throughout the water industry to ensure that treatments have worked. CRYPTS, the cryptosporidium proficiency testing scheme, enables participants to show the validity of their methods and results, and their compliance with water safety guidelines from bodies such as the WHO and EPA. Our CRYPTS samples include not just slides, but also suspensions and filters with cryptosporidium oocysts.
